This magnificent gothic cathedral enjoyed a "face lift" from my boss partners, Acme Pressure Washing. Owners Jeff Yoe & Daniel Lopez were on the project a few weeks ago. Click here to watch the video I shot for FaceBook of the task update. These professionals did an unbelievable job on this historic treasure. Go check it out the next time you are downtown. It is located on the corner of Broad Street & Government. Government Street is lined with extraordinary homes and notable buildings. I'd suggest a stroll down the sidewalk to absorb the beauty of this area.
If you are looking for a company to clean up your commercial or residential property, Acme Pressure Washing is the right choice. You can reach them by calling 251-257-7707 or read more at meetdaboss.com/acmepw.
Healthcare Resource Center & Jessica Zoltek Announce This Great Event!
Look at what is happening at The Wharf in mid-August! Are you ready to go up in a Huey Helicopter and see the Gulf Coast from the air? You might even spot a school of dolphins or sharks! The Bell UH1(HU-1) was introduced as a military medical evacuation chopper in 1959. Over 16,000 have been produced since then.
This is a chance of a lifetime to fly along the coast with "the best of the best"! Jessica Zoltek of Healthcare Resource Center will be on site to answer all of your supplemental insurance needs. She specializes in helping veterans with coverage. Read more about her business at meetdaboss.com/healthcaremobile.
Be sure to stop in A Coastal Zen while you are hanging out in Orange Beach. The Chapmans would love to show you around their unique crystal store at The Wharf! Stan is great at playing sound bowls and would be happy to introduce you to this wonderful instrument.
You can also book a Reiki Massage session with him by calling the store at 752-3489. If you have never experienced this healing therapy you don't know what you are missing!
There are several great places to grab a bite to eat including YoHo Rum & Tacos featuring indoor & outdoor seating. You may prefer Ginny Lane Bar & Grill who offers a great lunch menu with generous servings. The Southern Grind brews a delicious cup of coffee and has some great sandwiches on the menu! Go check out these options while you are in OB!
The Book Corner!
I have thoroughly enjoyed reading Dan Buettner's book The Blue Zones of Happiness. He is one of the leading authorities on what constitutes happiness. There are three basic things that interweave into forming human happiness.
Purpose
Pleasure
Pride
There are so many things that we can do in our own community to increase enjoyment in our daily lives. Here are a couple of suggestions that you can put into practice this week!
Prioritize friends and family. People tend to be happier when they are around others on a regular basis. Plan some fun activities with friends like dancing, singing, playing games, meeting for coffee or participating in sports.
Hang out with Happy People. Happiness is contagious and when the folks you surround yourself with are cheerful it makes a difference in your life. On the opposite end of the spectrum, when you are with negative folks your satisfaction with life plummets. I recently spent some time with a businessman who didn't have ANY good news. He reminded me of Eeyore from the Winnie the Pooh series, pessimistic, gloomy & depressed. It took me hours to shake off his negative energy. Protect your happiness, folks!
Join a club. Think about your interests outside of work and pursue them. I have a friend taking dance lessons and she loves it. This plays into your sense of purpose and can be very rewarding.
I wish this book was required reading for everyone! It really gets down to the basics of what we need as humans to experience true happiness. It turns out that regular social interaction far outweighs the "latest" handbag, fast car or big house. Working at something that you are passionate about is more important to overall contentment than chasing financial wealth.
In these times of discombobulations, it is important to focus on doing the things that bring balance, peace and happiness to our daily lives. You have the power to influence your environment and who you spend time with!
“Genuinely happy people do not just sit around being content. They make things happen. They pursue new understandings, seek new achievements, and control their thoughts and feelings.”
― Dan Buettner, Thrive: Finding Happiness the Blue Zones Way
DIY: Natural Cleaning Products
Now that we are spending so much time at home keeping it clean has become a top priority. I have been searching for some simple but effective cleaning products that are not laden with chemicals. I challenge you to open up your cupboards and see if you have the following.
Baking Soda
White Vinegar
Dish Washing Soap (liquid)
Water
Rubbing Alcohol
Distilled Water
Essential oils of your preference.
If you have these simple things on hand, you've got the basis for a great cleaning supply. Pick up some plastic spray bottles, microfiber towels and a couple of toothbrushes the next time you are at your local store. I found some great recipes on a YouTube Channel called Clean My Space. Click here for one of videos I watched featuring 19 recipes!
Here is a sample one for an All Purpose Cleaner:
Pour 2 cups of water in a spray bottle
Add 10 drops of Tea Tree Oil
Add 1 teaspoon of liquid dish washing soap
Shake up the mixture and get busy cleaning! Your house will smell marvelous and the product works great!
Fall Beauty is Here with Ashley Scarbrough!
Ladies, now is the time to start thinking about sweater weather and those deep rich colors of fall. I met Ashley at one of our favorite places, Domke Market, to take a look at the newest Mary Kay fall line.
I wish this computer had "smell-a-vision" because those new hand creams in Berry & Vanilla or Apple & Almond smell incredible. Ashley tells me that you can get them in a shower gel too!
There is definitely a shimmer theme going on this year. We all need some sparkle in our lives these days! If you would like to see these new products in person just reach out to Ashley and schedule a free consultation. Give her a call at 229-395-8487.
The black "beautiful" cloth is a new product that MK is offering to use with their charcoal mask.
Have a Wonderful Week from My Home to Yours!
I thought it was very interesting that happiness increases significantly if you own a dog! My two boys definitely keep me entertained and force me to go outside several times daily for a walk. Going out of doors is another key component to happiness in the Blue Zones! Have a wonderful week! Watch for the school zones, the kiddo's are back in session! ~ Charlsie
