Hello everyone! I am writing to you with a sad heart for my many friends in the states affected by Hurricane Helene. As one of my dear South Carolina friends stated, "Honestly, I’ve never seen anything like it in all my 42 years here. It’s absolutely insane. But my power is back on. We are still waiting for Internet but we are doing good and there was no damage to my house. So many houses around me have trees in them, on them, through them. So I am so thankful".
On the Gulf Coast, we naturally have a "hurricane plan" in place. Anyone who lived through Katrina, Camille or even Betsy knows that you have to prepare for the worst and pray for the best. I am grateful that we dodged this storm, yet I feel guilty about our blue skies and beautiful weather. Is anyone else feeling that way?
I will continue to reach out to friends from Florida, Georgia and up into the Carolinas, until I hear they are all safe. I am saddened to see the devastation to my beloved Asheville and surrounding areas. I know that these communities will pull together and help one another. They will rise out of this mess stronger and more committed to one another.
Please take a moment today and be thankful for life, electricity, water, plenty of food, your car, your health and a community that is intact. It can all change in 24 hours.

Things to do in October
Happening this Thursday!!! Should be a fun event raising money for BRAC Gulf Coast! Email wcrreservations@gmail.com to reserve your tickets! Hat's off to boss partner, Alan Bottoms, for spearheading this inaugural event!
Our friends at Bellingrath Gardens announced a new and exciting fall festival at Bellingrath Gardens & Home beginning in September. Click here to see the activities offered during this autumn event. Of course the Cascading Chrysanthemums, Scarecrows in the Garden, and Jack-O-Lantern Jubilee should delight "kids" of all ages. Imagine 5000 pumpkins on display the second week of October. Make plans to attend with friends and family!
Please note: there are many adult and family friendly events planned for the month. A quick search revealed several national artists will be playing locally, including Blues Artist Keb' Mo', Switchfoot (I saw them years ago and they were awesome live) and Theresa Caputo, a well-know medium, will be in the Port City.

Are you feeling the pinch of our economic times yet? It is hard to ignore when grocery prices have soared to over a 20% increase. Why not have Lisa Harkey and her team of professional Insurance Agents review your auto and home coverage?
I had a friend who did this recently and found better automobile coverage and saved over $1200 annually. Yep, you read that figure correctly...one hundred dollars per month.
It doesn't cost you a dime to request a quote and Lisa would love the opportunity to save you money and earn your business.

Happy Halloween on October 31st!
Are you planning to attend a Halloween event this year? There are loads of possibilities happening along the Gulf Coast. A few years ago we dressed up as Morticia & Gomez Addams for a local gala, the Wild Things Ball, at the Alabama Contemporary Arts Center. My "Gomez" was the subject of many photographers! It was an interesting evening in downtown Mobile. Whatever you decide to do, have fun and enjoy yourself!
I'm hoping we can organize something with the neighbors to treat the kids and socialize. It would be fun to dress up and surprise the "littles"!
Thanks for supporting this platform for local businesses. Now more than ever, they need your loyalty.
Have a wonderful October! ~ Charlsie
