Autumn conditions have arrived on the Gulf Coast and folks are taking their sweaters and boots out of storage for the sudden drop in temperature. It has always amazed me how quickly we can move from the eighty's to the 30's in a matter of twenty-four hours. As one who enjoys fall, I welcome the decrease in humidity and the crisp, cool air that welcomes me every morning on my dog walk.
Have you noticed how amenable people are when the climate cools off? I am witnessing more smiling faces and a relaxed pace in our area. The scents of cinnamon and pumpkin spice are perfuming the inside of both homes and stores! It truly is a wonderful time to be in the port city.
I wanted to share the latest decor from my sweet neighbor, Lynn. This morning, when I took the fur boys out for their AM excursion, I saw this precious mailbox treatment! It is so delightful to see people getting into the spirit of Thanksgiving. We truly have so much to be thankful for in this country.
Thanksgiving has a special place in my heart because of my mother's heritage. She had four relatives aboard the Mayflower, and they attended the first feast in 1621. In fact, Mary Chilton, famed for being the first female to set foot on Plymouth Rock, was her grandmother, several generations removed. This small group of 102 voyagers faced incredible difficulties crossing the ocean and attempting to settle in this country. It took 66 days for them to reach the mainland of America in 1620. It is worth noting that they landed in Provincetown Harbor first before moving on to Plymouth. The first Thanksgiving was observed in 1621 between the Pilgrims of Plymouth Colony and the Wampanoag tribe.

Who doesn't love a good cheesecake? This Pumpkin Cheesecake is one of the BEST if not, the greatest cheesecake I have ever eaten. Full disclosure...I am not a huge pumpkin fan, however I made this concoction because of a very special request. This is IT, the dessert you should make for family and friends for Thanksgiving. Add a dollop of whipped cream and some roasted pecans for extra panache! Click here to "cook with me" on YouTube and let me know how yours turns out!
